The Story of Molly Pitcher
Molly Pitcher was a nickname given to a woman said to have fought in the American Revolutionary War. Many historians regard “Molly Pitcher” as folklore, and suggest the Molly Pitcher may be a composite image inspired by the actions of a number of real women. Historians have highlighted the accounts of 3 brave women who were associated with this name.
Molly Pitcher is an encompassing representation of women’s bravery and perseverance in the face of opposition. Today we continue to celebrate the sacrifices and bravery of women through the generations that began with the stories of our founding mothers.
